David Mitchell Looks Back at 2011
If only this coming year actually ends up being this exciting…
I won’t review 2011 yet, but a quick personal recap of 2010 for sheer narcissism (hey, this is my blog, after all): Horrendously busy (see the failed picture project, year-in movie reviews, and the fact that I’ve only read one fiction book since the summer holidays [Girl, Interrupted if you’re interested - it was very good!]), but at the same time moving out and getting to spend more time with people (and in the library) and learning to cook, expanding my baking repertoire, learning to knit (and annoying everyone I know by whipping out said knitting at every opportunity… but at least the blanket which I’ve been making for the past four months is now finished!) (despite it being a direct consequence of tearing a ligament in my ankle), actually keeping a semi-diary for the first half of the year at least (in picture form), trying my first Yorkie, getting hot and bothered about the first election at which I was eligible to vote (fat lot of good that it did), améliorer-ing mon français, seeing some great films especially over the summer (Inception, Scott Pilgrim, Toy Story 3) and really enjoying a year of many blessings has made 2010 a good’un, all in all! And, honestly? It’s been great knowing that even in some suck-y times God is still faithful and sovereign.
Just a few aims for 2010 (first instance of writing the year wrongly) 2011, some of which I’ve pinched from some other people:
- Write more letters. Meaningful ones.
- Find something else to do now that knitting my blanket’s done.
- Re-discover old pastimes… ukulele, reading, reviewing things.
SpendWaste less time on the internet.- Get more sleep.
And on that note… bonne nuit!
