Snap
Basic Snap
(just to clarify)
- Cards dealt facedown to as many people as are playing
- Play goes round from dealer’s left, with each player playing their top card blind
- If a card is the same number as the previous, the first one to say “snap” and place their hands on the pile wins
- Winner is the last one to have any cards left
Irish Snap
- As with normal snap, cards are dealt face down, and players play blind.
- The first player will say “Ace” as they lay down their card; the second will say “2”; the third “3”; and so on until the number spoken is the same as the card played, in which case the first to say “snap” and lay their hands on the cards wins the pile (i.e. if Player A says “4” as s/he is playing a 4, then it’s a snap).
- Winner is the last one to have any cards left.
Up/Down Snap
- As with normal snap, cards are dealt face down, and players play blind.
- If the card is one number above or below the previous one, players say “snap” and lay their hands on the pile. The last one to “snap” loses and is given the pile.
- If someone erroneously “snaps” when the cards are not within one number of each other, then they must take the pile.
- Winner is the first one to get rid of all of their cards.
